Friday October 15th

Friends,

Kol haKfar, the downtown egalitarian minyan, meets this Friday night at 7pm for Shabbat prayers and a vegetarian/dairy potluck dinner. Please RSVP. Due to the relatively small spaces of our homes, we have to cap attendance at 30. We are looking into finding bigger spaces, but for now we still have to fit in living rooms. (If you know of a bigger space south of 34th street that is available, please contact us at kolhakfar@yahoo.com.)

Please indicate what you will bring to the meal. Our hostess does not require a heksher for vegetarian items, but please check ingredients carefully. We often receive questions about what's a good item to bring over, our standard answer is any vegetarian side dish you like. We also encourage people to bring kosher wine and beverages, like seltzer or juices. We especially appreciate inventive non-alcoholic cocktails, which are always in short supply. Organic fair trade Pomegranate spritzer anyone?

Carrie Kingsley, 7pm
145 E 16th St., Apt 7P (NW corner of 3rd Ave)

The parsha this week is Lech-Lecha, "Go to you!" which encompasses God's outer commandment for Abraham to continue his father's journey west towards Israel, and to dig deep within himself to find the strength to be his own man.
