Chaverim,

This is a big week for Jews -- and for Kol haKfar in particular. It's Tu B'shvat, we meet tonight to plan for our first fund raising event, and we gather on Friday at Jennie and Ben Folkinshteyn's to celebrate Shabbat.

1) Fund raiser planning meeting tonight -- Kol haKfar hosts an evening of wine tasting, wonderful food, and winning conversation at Moore Brothers wine shop in April to raise funds for the minyan. We're having the kickoff planning meeting tonight at 6pm, January 17, Chez Schecter, 385 Grand St., Apt L13-04 -- Seward Park building. Please join us to help plan this terrific event. Shout if you plan to come: kolhakfar@yahoo.com.

2) Tu B'shvat, the New Year of the Trees -- There are Tu B'shvat seders around the city, including a Hazon/Romemu event at the JCC, 334 Amsterdam, on Wed, January 19 at 7:30. It's $30-36; http://bit.ly/f1fSRT for details. There's a JNF seder and wine tasting, which features the lovely Illana Feiglin leading portions of the seder, on Thurs, January 20 at 7:00pm at JNF House, 42 East 69th St. It's free for JNFuture members, $18 toward planting a tree in Carmel for others; www.jnf.org/jnfuture/tbs for details. Kol haKfar members will be at both events.

3) This Shabbat with Kol haKfar -- Ben and Jennie Folkinshteyn host the minyan this Friday Jan 21st in their Madison Square Park apartment. It will be a kosher meat meal. They kindly ask people to bring kosher wine or non-alcoholic beverages, or pre-packaged and hekshered pareve or meat dishes to contribute to the meal. Since they're doing most of the cooking, we ask people to RSVP to our email address: kolhakfar@yahoo.com. We're capping the night at 30. RSVP early to get a space.
