March 30th Potluck

Dear Friends,

Three announcements - 1) Kol haKfar meets next Friday, March 30th, at Liz Cate's loft for a kosher/vegetarian potluck dinner. Please RSVP by next Monday 3/26 to see if we can get a head count to make this a go or not. 2) Crazy Passover burlesque event. 3) I'm including some seder information for those looking for seders, want to host seders, or are interested in volunteering.

1) Kol haKfar celebrates Shabbat and a dairy kosher/vegetarian potluck meal, and a Pesah discussion led by two rabbinic students at YU and the RCC, respectively. Please join us at Liz Cate's apartment, and please RSVP to attend. Guidelines: if you do not have a kosher kitchen, you can either make a vegetarian dish which we'll put on a separate table, or you can purchase a kosher meal from a store. Last names: A - T bring a meal to share. U - Z bring a drink (including kosher wine!) to share.

Elizabeth Cate's apartment is on 125 West 3rd Street #3C between 6th Avenue and MacDougal Street. 7pm. March 30th.

2)The 14th Street Y Presents
Kosher ChiXXX Passover Style: Get liberated!

Kosher ChiXXX Passover Style is a sexy, sultry all-Jewish burlesque extravaganza in honor of Passover, one of those uplifting Jewish holidays when members of the tribe celebrate the fact that we avoided slavery and extermination… again. It's one of our most festive holidays, a time of prizes (find the afikomen and you're a winner), nibbles (free matzah for the whole family) and getting drunk (on $3 He'Brew beer specials which will go great with your four cups of wine)! Why stay home asking questions when we have all the answers, live on stage.
Date: Thursday, March 29
Show Time: 9PM
Location: Mo Pitkin's House of Satisfaction (34 Avenue A b/tw E. 2nd & 3rd Streets)
Tickets: $10, Advance tickets go to www.mopitkins. com

3) Here are twoseder options. If you'd like to welcome KhK'ers to your table, or if you're looking for a seder, come on Friday March 30th to make a match. Otherwise:

Volunteer at the Project ORE Seder - 2nd night of Passover

Project ORE (a program of The Educational Alliance) provides daily warm meals, social services and a sense of community for homeless or impoverished seniors, many of whom also have serious mental health issues.
The seder will be led by a volunteer chaplain but volunteers are needed to help set up, serve food, participate in the seder (sing, socialize, etc..). The food will be strictly kosher and should actually be pretty good.

It takes place at the 14th Street Y (14th and 1st Ave) on the 2nd night of Passover (Tuesday, April 3, 2007). The volunteer shift is from 5 - 9pm (we say 9pm but it is highly likely it will end significantly earlier).
Volunteers must sign up by calling 212-780-2300 x484 or emailing chana_widawski@ edalliance. org
